Contractor Safety Induction
Course Overview
This module targets contractors, focusing on their legal obligations and organisational procedures intrinsic to their role. It provides an outline of the key risk areas in the workplace specific to that industry and job function. It defines the legal responsibilities held between an organisation and its contractors, and in turn between contractors and their subcontractors.
This course aims to familiarise the contractor with the policies and expectations of the organisation, and outlines what the contractor should expect from the organisation to which they are contracting their services.

- Overview of the legislation pertaining to a contractor's WHS responsibilities.
- Important organisational policies and procedures.
- Hazard identification and risk assessment.
- Environmental management - waste and storage management systems.
- Overview of hazards - working at heights, confined spaces, manual handling, driver safety, hazardous substances etc.
- Hazards and incident reporting.
- Emergency management.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Plant and Equipment.
- Working outdoors (UV and heat stroke).
- Housekeeping.
- Manual Tasks.
- Harassment & bullying.
Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this induction, learners should be able to:- Identify their responsibilities and know what to expect when working as a contractor.
- Describe the process of assessing and reporting hazards in the workplace.
- Discuss and manage the high risk processes relevant to the job.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of safe work practices.
