Course Overview
Work Health and Safety (WHS) issues can jeopardise the wellbeing of workers in the workplace. In order to control these WHS issues and minimise risks, organisations implement Safety Management Systems. These systems aim to address identified hazards and risks and link processes in a systematic manner in order to manage WHS issues.
This module will outline what a safety management system is and discuss its components. All stages of implementing a safety management system are described and the learner will be aware of how to regularly monitor and update the system as required. At the conclusion of this module, the learner will understand how a safety management system addresses WHS issues and contributes to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
