Safety Representatives


Course Overview

Health and safety representatives play an important role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. They must be familiar with relevant WHS legislative provisions and assist with implementing the risk management process. Through open communication, negotiation and action planning, health and safety representatives make an important contribution to maintaining the health and safety of workers in the workplace.

This module outlines the provisions of WHS legislation that relate to health and safety representatives and describes their roles, responsibilities and powers. The risk management process is discussed in accordance with activities of workplace inspections, communication and negotiation. The learner is given the skills and knowledge to enable them to fulfil the role of an HS representative in maintaining a safe work environment.
