Hazard Identification & Control
Course Overview
In all Australian states and territories, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) laws impose a Duty of Care on employers to provide a safe working environment and protect the health and safety of their employees. However, this principle also extends to employees. Hazards in the workplace, if not controlled can cause injury and affect the health and safety of employees, contractors and visitors to the workplace. By eliminating or controlling hazards employees can reduce accidents in the workplace.
This safety module has been designed to increase employees' awareness of hazard identification and control and shows how to effectively identify and implement risk control measures in the workplace to prevent injuries. Central to this course is introducing the concept of 'Risk Management' - a strategy designed to assist identification of hazards, risk assessment, and implementation of risk controls - with the aim of reducing risks that might be encountered while working.
