Information Security
Course Overview
Accurate, up-to-date and uncorrupted information is critical to the survival, let alone successful operation, of all businesses and organisations. Such information therefore is a valuable commodity and attracts a variety of threats. Much of this data could be of use to business rivals or those intent on destroying the company or organisation by acts of economic sabotage. Unauthorised access by outsiders to the stored data can be prevented quite easily (e.g. by a firewall). However, studies show that most information leakages, either deliberate or accidental, can be traced to sources inside the company or organization.
This module is designed to make employees aware of the importance of effectively securing information and shows ways of how to ensure the security of confidential and sensitive data in the workplace.
