Introduction to Records Management
Course Overview
Recordkeeping and Records Management are integral aspects and functions of all organisation types. Records are an important source of knowledge and need to be managed effectively in order to improve both the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation and enable it to meet legal, financial and accountability obligations.
This Introduction to Records Management module is therefore aimed at developing awareness and applied understanding in managers and staff responsible for:- Managing and / or maintaining records;
- Designing, reviewing, and / or implementing record keeping systems in organisations.
It introduces learners to the fundamentals of records management, with the aim of developing an understanding of the nature, importance, purpose and characteristics of records, recordkeeping, recordkeeping systems, and records management programs.
