Lockout and Tag in the Workplace
Course Overview
Working with electricity accounts for a significant number of deaths in the workforce and is one of the most common causes of occupational fatal injury. It therefore is a hazard that must be assessed and well controlled in all workplaces.
Effective lock out of equipment when work is being conducted should be mandatory and systematic in all workplaces. Developing the system must be conducted in a consultative manner, and suitable training of all employees in the system is a must. All employees must be able to easily recognise the various lock out and danger tags used in the workplace, and instantly know that the equipment is not to be started while these tags are in place.
This package will highlight the potential hazards associated with the installation or repair of electrical services and provide information on appropriate precautions to eliminate the inherent risks of this type of work.
