Safety Representatives


Course Overview

Safety representatives play an important role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. They must be familiar with relevant OHS legislative provisions and assist with implementing the risk management process. Through open communication, negotiation and action planning, safety representatives make an important contribution to maintaining the health and safety of employees in the workplace.

This module outlines the provisions of OHS legislation that relate to safety representatives and describes their roles, responsibilities and powers. The risk management process is discussed in accordance with activities of workplace inspections, communication and negotiation. The learner is given the skills and knowledge to enable them to fulfil the role of an OHS representative in maintaining a safe work environment.
